“A regular skin checkup can literally save your life.” Jennifer Krasnoff, MD

Your doctor has recommended a skin biopsy. After an injection of local anesthesia, a small piece of skin will be removed for evaluation. Stitches may or may not be used to close the wound.

  • There will be a permanent scar.
  • There is a small chance of infection or bleeding after the surgery.
  • There is a small possibility of an allergic reaction to the anesthetic, the bandage adhesive, or the ointment used. We do not recommend Neosporin.
  • Further treatment or surgery may be needed.

If the specimen is sent to an outside facility for interpretation, you or y our insurance will be billed separately by them.
