Prior to Treatment

  • Remove lotion, makeup and other skin care products from skin.
  • Do not tan the areas to be treated for 4 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Avoid using self-tanning products for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Must be off Accutane at least 6 months prior to treatment.
  • Do not use Retin-A, or Glycolic Acid preparations 3 days prior to treatment. Do not take Aspirin 1 week prior to treatment.
  • If you have a history Herpes/cold sores in the treatment area, please take your prophylactic anti-viral medication as directed by your physician.
  • Do not take any photosensitizing medications.

After Treatment

  • Some redness and swelling in the area is normal after treatment which may feel similar to a sunburn. This should resolve within several ours but can last 1-3 days after treatment. Applying cool packs for the first 24 hours will help minimize swelling.
  • Gently clean area twice daily with a gentle skin cleanser ( i.e. Cetaphil, Trixera). A hydrating regimen may be recommended. Avoid harsh rubbing.
  • Make-up may be applied if desired only if the skin is NOT broken, but avoid applying make-up for 24 hours, if possible.
  • Avoid irritants (glycolics, retinoids etc.) for seven days after treatment.
  • Apply sunscreen for 6 weeks over the treated area. AVOID DELIBERATE SUN EXPOSURE.
  • If a blister or scab develops, gently wash the area daily, use an antibiotic ointment twice daily (polysporin) and protect the area from sun exposure. Vaseline, Aquaphor, or Elta moisturizer is also recommended to lubricate treated areas and prevent scabbing.
  • No hot baths or aerobic exercise for 24 hours after treatment.
